ENCORDASS 2026
Encordass It’s a musical meeting where instrument classrooms are combined with concerts and works. It’s a unique experience built from coexistence and cultural exchange, not that each edition is dedicated to popular music from a country or region.
It’s mainly intended for string players (violin, viola, cello, contrabaixo, guitar, hurdy-gurdy and diatonic accordion), although there are different modalities of participation, making it possible to attend with other instruments or as an accompanist (the latter option is only available for members).
Instrument classes are established by level, and are taught by teachers from the guest country. The repertoire worked on during the course will be performed in a final concert open to the public together with the musicians participating in the meeting. Musicians, teachers and the participants who wish to, will perform as part of the Encordass Fest Orchestra, in a big final concert on last day.
The Encordass meeting is held on San Simón Island and includes accommodation and full board. The minimum age to participate in Encordass is 18 years. Places will be filled in strict order of registration at the time the reservation is made.

The recent history of Galician folk fiddle cannot be understood without Scotland. At first, in the 1980s, with the birth of folk in our land, the few violinists who approached popular music looked to Scotland and Ireland as fundamental references from which to learn.
Now that the 21st century has entered, the prestigious Scottish violinist Alasdair Fraser became interested in the Galician violin and invited Alfonso Franco to participate as a teacher in 2011 and 2012 at the Sierra Fiddle Camp in California. As a result of these trips, the idea of creating an event with similar characteristics on San Simón Island arose, which gave rise to the birth of the San Simón Fiddle and, later, the current Encordass Fiddle Fest.
For all this, being able to count on an artist like Alasdair Fraser, of immeasurable importance for the artistic and cultural development of the fiddle worldwide, fills us with enormous pride.
