THE
ASSOCIATION is a non-profit organization

It arose in the year 2010 in the region of Vigo around the violin class of the ETRAD (Municipal School of Traditional and Folk Music of Vigo), which served as a gathering place for those violinists interested in traditional music.

The main activity of the association is to organize courses with the best teachers from around the world, as well as the organization of the San Simón Fiddle summer camp for children, which aims to create a new generation of violinists and cellists in Galicia that play popular music: folk, rock, blues, jazz etc.

San Simón Fiddle

It is a music course especially intended for boys and girls, where musical activities are combined with other fun and free time activities. The age of participation will be between seven and eighteen years.

The musical activity is mainly aimed at enhancing the use of stringed instruments within traditional music, in order to discover another way of relating to their instrument, which will allow them to enjoy making music regardless of their technical level.

Encordass Fiddle Fest

A musical meeting where instrument classes are combined with concerts and workshops. It is a unique experience built from coexistence and cultural exchange, in which each edition is dedicated to the popular music of a country or region.

The Encordass is celebrated within the first weekend of the Encordass Fiddle Fest on the Island of San Simón, with a program open to the public for concerts and parallel activities, and with accommodation and full board for instrumentalists who attend with reduced or full modality .

Galicia Fiddle Orchesta

Born after the meetings in San Simón, the Galicia Fiddle Orchestra is an educational project with international impact. On the occasion of the celebration in Aberdeen (Scotland) of the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention (NAFCO), 40 participants from the Galicia Fiddle Orchestra played in His Majesty’s Theater in Aberdeen, the largest theater in the north-east of Scotland, with more than 1,400 spectators, from most of whom were professional musicians.
