The Galicia Fiddle Orchestra is an educational project
with international impact
Our orchestra is made up of young people aged between 12 and 20 and their teachers, and we are accompanied by musicians of recognized prestige within the traditional Galician musical scene: Begoña Riobó, Anxo Pintos, Xosé Liz, Grupo Dagda, Teresa Santamarina, Felipe. Rodicio and Alfonso Franco. Together we form a total of 35 musicians, mostly violinists, but also cellos, acoustic guitar, traditional music percussionists and voices such as Claudia Franco.
Influenced by Celtic music, our repertoire is enriched every summer on the island of San Simón, where we had the opportunity to exchange experiences and melodies with musicians from Asia, Mexico and Arab countries such as Syria, Morocco or Palestine. With our work we want to promote music as a fantastic tool for coexistence, peace, education in values, and to awaken curiosity, respect and interest in the diversity and culture of all peoples.
